Lots of members take home trophies from 25th Quinn Connelley Doubles Tournament

Lots of members took home those unique bobblehead trophies from the 25th Quinn Connelley Doubles Tournament this month.
Riley Robbins won both the Men’s Open teaming with Harrison Bennett and the Mixed Open with Julie Bell.
Holly Robbins teamed with Lindsey Craig to win the Women’s 3.0 – bringing home the third bobblehead for the Robbins family.
Kathy Dannevik won the 8.0 Mixed with first-time partner Tim Miller.
“We’ve known each other for a long time,” said Kathy, but they had never played together until this year, which was Kathy’s eighth time to play the Quinn.
“I already knew he was competitive,” she said.
This was Tim’s first Quinn.
“I like to run around the court and take balls that shouldn’t be mine,” he said.
Kathy added: We’re both competitive – it was fun when we got a great point.”
Julie Lowe teamed up with LCC Pro Mel McRee and were Mixed Open runners-up.
“I had a really good partner,” said Julie, adding she’s played in almost every Quinn over its 25 years.
Rachael Bradley teamed up with Mandy Chisholm and were runners-up in Women’s 4.0.
They know each other’s game well.
Rachael and Mandy have been playing against each other since they were 12 – both went to different Lubbock high schools and ended up sorority sisters at Texas Tech.
Other members who took home bobbleheads were:
• Beth Sublett and Anna Fargason, Women’s 3.5 runners-up
• Jessica Smith and Molly Roberts, Women’s 3.0 runners-up
The 25th Quinn was Chris Miller’s first – he’s watched his wife Shannon play for a year and a half and decided “to get off the sidelines and into the game.”
He never played before.
“I’m taking lessons with Mel. Tennis keeps you active,” Chris said, adding he’s had grace from others during the tournament for “someone who hits balls all over the place. It’s a good community.”
Rachelle and Jake Tuls came down from Amarillo for the Quinn for the second year.
“I host Amarillo Panhandle Pro-Am and Mel plays as our pro and we have so much fun with him, we love to come here and reciprocate,” said Rachelle, who won the 7.0 Mixed with her husband.
“It was worth the trip,” she said.
