Barkers win Bogey Buster with birdie putt on final hole

Marian Barker drained a 12-foot slightly left-to-right downhill putt on the final hole and she and husband Larry won another Bogey Buster Championship Flight by one stroke.
Does winning ever get old for the couple?
“No,” said Marian, in photo at left with Larry.
“It’s wearing me out,” said a wisecracking Larry at the awards ceremony Sunday in The Club’s Ballroom.
For Brandon and Ali Hamilton, their win in the First Flight was the couple’s first in a few tries in the annual couples tournament.
“Outside of a couple of long putts, I rode her coattails,” said Brandon, bragging about his wife, who played high school golf at Plainview High School and her freshman year at Texas Tech.
“She’s fantastic,” said Brandon.
The Hamiltons were tied for the lead after a rainy Saturday, but posted a 67 Sunday to win their flight by four strokes with eight birdies and three bogeys.
The tournament had 66 couples playing on a soggy Saturday and sunny Sunday.

The Barkers were tied for the lead after the first day and held a two-shot lead after an eagle on the par-5 13th hole on the final day.
But that lead was gone after the 17th hole before Marian nailed her putt for the win.
She also complimented her partner, saying if she missed the putt, she knew Larry would have made his.
Larry stepped up over the final holes off the tee.
Each team had to use six drives from each player and they needed to use five of Larry’s over the last six holes.
“He came through,” said Marian.
“This is such a fun tournament and we enjoy the people who play in this tournament. Even if we didn’t win we’d enjoy it, but we enjoy it more (when winning),” she said.
