Hardin, Ward take top spot at Touch of Texas, edging Barker and Taylor by a stroke
Barbara Hardin and Dana Ward of Lakeridge Country Club won Championship Flight at the Touch of Texas at LCC Tuesday, one stroke ahead of Marian Barker and Karen Taylor.
Sue Hudson and Heather Hocker won the Third Flight.
"We hit every green in regulation and made a few putts," said Hardin.
Ward added, "When one of us was in trouble, the other stepped up."
Hardin then chipped in, "It's a true partnership."
The pair also praised the course's condition.
"The course and greens were in great shape," they both said.
For Barker, who won the event last year, she and Taylor needed a few more putts to drop.
They only missed one green in regulation, but Barker said she wished they had shorter putts through the day.
She thought they had both made putts on 14, but they just missed.
Taylor added, "the course was beautiful."
Hudson and Hocker "made some putts" ... including Hudson dropping a 40-foot bomb in the first hole.
"Such an accident," she said.
"We play well as a team," she added.
Barker, who organized the event, was very happy.
"We had a good group, 48 teams and it ran smoothly. The course was beautiful and lots of people won stuff," she said with a smile.
